Comments didn't move when I did some rearranging, so I'm moving them manually:

As far as I'm concerned, season one was the only authentic Big Brother experience. Those HG's were creeped out by and continuously cognizant of the cameras. Once, when one HG tried to sneakily write a message regarding strategy to another HG, Big Brother came right over the loudspeaker and scolded them, demanding to know what had been written. In season one, they were playing to all those who saw their actions through the camera lens. It was season one where the HG's, who saw themselves as decent members of society that didn't want to hurt other HGs' feelings, and who indignantly claimed that they were unwilling to compromise their morals for money, almost revolted against the 'machine'. Despite what some snivelling, shallow-minded critics with toddlerish attention spans said, it was absolutely fascinating. How I wish they would rerun that season. Those were more innocent times, reality-TV wise. Go, Chicken George!!!

I agree with Darkthunder's comment above about BB1 being the only authentic Big Brother experience.
Every year, it feels more and more scripted to me.

Yeah, the first season was the best. Everything else has been pure exploitation.
